Overview
Typography is a baseline for every designers, yet, it is a discipline with borders that you can never reach.
The outcome of this project is a typograpphy handbook for both junior designers and those in their higer seniority that will serve as a reference tool for future educational and professional pursuits. Based on this idea, it aims to promote an introduction to the subject, including applied typography terminology, history, and theory through the exploration of letterforms and word compositions in eight chapters.
Design Decision
After years of iteration, Emily G.A. Moody’s typography lessons has come to full bloom. This project is to create a handbook for every typography learners, providing a foundational understanding of typography and references for designers in every seniority.
To fulfill the goal above, I decided to use clean, well-known typefaces, tried to explore different pairings for the first half. I then went on to create my own typefaces by distorting, disforming, and conducting typographic experiments.
